Alberta School of Forest Science and Management
Introductory Field School: Allows all new forestry students the opportunity to take a six-day tour throughout Alberta to view the diversity of the province’s forest resources and forest-related activities.
Field School: The Renewable Resources 299 Field School (required for both BSc ENCS and BSc Forestry programs) is a three week program, usually taken between the 2nd and 3rd year, that combines the concepts, theories and practices of environmental, conservation and forest sciences in an off-campus field experience. Field skill proficiency in planning, measurement, analysis and reporting is emphasized for biophysical and socioeconomic components of the environment.
Summer Employment: As a result of the sheer size of the forest industry within Alberta, there are many summer jobs to take advantage of while completing your forestry degree. These jobs are a valuable way to gain experience and to connect with other professionals in your field. You will also be given the opportunity to combine the teachings of the classroom with your experiences in the forest.
